TableMate Designer Support

TableMate Designer was launched at Acorn World '96.

The following faults have been reported and corrected, and improvements made:

• Formulae; when rows were deleted, formulae could get corrupted if a reference reduced in the number of characters it used, and it was the last item in a formula, under some circumstances - a concurrent change has been made to TableMate 3. Reported: Quercus Computer Systems.

• Printing; TableMate is now reported as the printing application (previously DiagramIt!). Reported: Internal

• Column margins; if a set of columns was selected, only the margin of the first chosen was set. Reported: Internal
• HTML saving; single line cells with local effects did not export the local tags properly. Reported: Internal

• Local selections; Designer now automatically selects all of a cell (block selection) if all of the text inside is chosen. Improved feature (Also improves local selections in vertically joined cells)

• HTML saving; added pixel and percentage setting of column width. New Feature
• HTML saving; modified colour specification output; colours are now always output as six digits. This is considered better HTML style.

• Decimal tabs; with non-decimaled text; positioning was (slightly) incorrect as the missing decimal point was not used to determine the horizontal positioning. Improved feature

• Buttonbar; the status of the buttonbar text height display could go awry. Reported: G Greaves
• Font handling; the usage list for fonts didn't update on a load, so fonts could be lost whilst still in use, resulting in bad redraws.

• HTML saving; the selection of table head(TH)/table data(TD) tags was incorrect. Now responds properly to controls in the Edit style dialogue. Reported: Internal

• Graphic scaling; If a graphic is rescaled or imported when the view scale is other than 100%, the graphic is is mis-scaled. Reported: Internal
• Print dialogue; if the PRINT key is used to open the dialogue, the Print and Cancel buttons do not close the dialogue. Reported: R Baldey
• Messages file; a message (PrintIgn) was missing. This message is displayed when the table is too large to fit on a single piece of paper at the current print scale. Reported: R Baldey

Version: 4.00b

Date: 06.11.96

• Set margins dialogue; Set button does nothing.Reported: A Thoukydides
• Currency; converting to a different currency does not automatically change currencies in the last column of each row. Reported: A Thoukydides
• Horizontal lines; in some cases horizontal lines won't disappear when required to (ie. vertical joins or local knockouts). Reported: I O'Donnell
• Multiple RETURNS; more than one RETURN character in sequence can result in:
• Hanging of computer.
• "Heap free - not a heap block" errors.

• Caret position; on views of other than 100%, clicking in a cell to position the caret may result in the caret being mis-positioned on screen (edit position is actually ok). Reported: Internal
• Status icons; the content of the text choice buttons can be incorrect (worst offender is text size). This is mostly fixed, however, use of the keyboard controls will result in the display being "out" until a character is typed (will be fixed). Reported: Internal/Various
• Local text size; changing text size locally usually failed to redraw the text. Reported: Internal
• Forced wordwrapping; where forced wordwrapping was used (ie. no natural break/space character in a line of text), redraws sometimes did not put up new characters, maintaining the old display until a redraw was forced by other circumstances. Reported: Internal
• HTML saving; the use of an image with ALT text resulted in the " ALT=" characters missing in the HTML output. Reported: Internal

Most of the problems are trivial redraw issues. The multiple RETURN problem is less so, as it can result in crashes.
