Version: 1.41b
Date: 19th May 1998
- Improves redraw etc of horizontal ruleoffs when inside a cell. If the vertical alignment was other than "top" for the cell, the whole ruleoff was treated as being in a place other than the one it was in, for redraws, clicks and everything!
- Re-fixes table import; border is now set back to zero (again).
- Re-introduces extended entities file from WebSpider 1.10, which also managed to get lost in the update.
- Fixes problem with import of anchor names of more than 19 characters.
- Fixes problem with new imagemaps - they didn't save with the page and the page wouldn't then reload (NB this only applies to maps created from new with the new imagemap editing system of 1.40a).
- Fixes problem with detecting clicks inside polygons in imagemaps - sometimes textbook solutions don't actually work! To be fair, the problems are not obvious with many shapes - just one or two common ones though!
Version 1.41a was never publicly released. Improvements are given above as for 1.41b.
Version: 1.40b
Date: 12th May 1998
- Makes WebSpider react to BASE tags for images - it already did this for links - correctly on importing.
- Fixes a bug in the storing of external image size information on import
- Fixes a bug in Cell control dialogue - permits cells to be 100% of width (template didn't allow for four characters); also, you could use the width arrow controls when the width was faded out(!)
- Fixes imagemap editing - you couldn't start a new imagemap for an image.
- Patches misbehaviour of undo of a paste action
- Fixes mistaken attempts to drag-and-drop when nothing was selected; could result in crashes.

Date: 31st March 1998
- Improves redraw and remaking of tables next to left- and right- aligned images.
Version: 1.11d
Date: 27th March 1998
- Numerous problems with site management were uncovered, which were caused by a failure by the compiler at an earlier date, for unknown reasons. Examples:
- Files copied to another directory seemed to have been copied but weren't.
- Files copied to another directory didn't have their links properly updated - this could result in failure to load.
- Copying a directory into itself resulted in repeated error boxes.
- in conclusion to the above, it would seem that copying files from one directory to another was completely broken.
- Subtle filer improvements added, particularly with selections and messages explaining problems in copying/renaming etc.
- Subtle improvements to toolbar handling/updating - particularly with lists.
Version: 1.11c
Date: 5th March 1998
- Fixes bug when a directory is deleted - if it is the default image directory, then the location of the default image directory became corrupt! Now resets that default to the root directory automatically in such circumstances.
- Improves import of ImageMaps - previously, if an imagemap element did not say which type of shape it was, WebSpider dropped it. Now, if it has four points, it is assumed to be a rectangle, otherwise it is interpreted as a polygon.
Version: 1.11b
Date: 24th February 1998
- Fixes a bug in loading text files; if the caret was not repositioned further editing/loading could cause crashes/hangs
Version: 1.11a
Date: 11th February 1998
- Adds switching of 16- and 32- bit Sprites to JPEGs or GIFs as required.
- Bypasses problems with Risc-OS 3.1.
- Subtle filer improvements added.
- Fixes a bug in saving cells in a "heading" style -
<th> was inserted at the beginning of each paragraph!
Version: 1.10i
Date: 2nd February 1998
- Numerous small changes to improve image handling.
- Fixes fault in handling of 16-bit colour sprites in conversion to JPEG.
Version: 1.10h
Date: 20th January 1998
- Fixes fault in mult-document editing: the changing of the document with the caret focus was not conducted properly, resulting in misplaced redraws.
- Handling of unusual list operations improved; WebSpider could get itself into a tangle giving "Imbalanced start/end of list" messages.
- Paragraph justification changes over lists could result in spurious changes to the style of bullet point/index number
- Cut-and-paste could result in "URL in use" errors.
- OLE editing of graphics could result in the wrong graphic being sent to the editor.
Version: 1.10g
Date: 12th December 1997
- HTML saving/loading; blockquote is now tagged properly.
- Selection of local named references - dialogue didn't scroll.
- Improved tail appending for certain files.
Version: 1.10f
Date: 24th November 1997
- Closing of documents; certain events were not properly handled afterwards (eg drags didn't end!).
- References to the same document were completed as ".htm" rather than blank in some circumstances.
Version: 1.10e
Date: 19th November 1997
- Fixes fault in table handling - bad redraws if table was less than 100% of the page width and was not left aligned.
- Fixes fault in loading and saving - if a form had no script details, the file would not reload
- Fixes fault in table size dialogue due to changes at 1.10d
- Improved forms item handling - hidden form items are now closed properly; extra details saved for certain elements
- Fixes fault in cut-and-paste of tables - pasting in a block with a horizontal join followed by other cells on the same row could result in mis-positioning of the cells.
- Fixes fault in merging cells - sometimes mergable cells were reported as not being mergable.
- Fixes fault in cut-and-paste of option form items - data wasn't copied.
Version: 1.10d
Date: 18th November 1997
- Improved handling of paragraph alignment inside cells; now the alignments interact better (changing cell alignment changes identical paragraphs).
- Improved behaviour of cut-and-paste in handling header setting of cell content.
- Improved redraw of tables in various circumstances
- Improved redraw of iconbar icon; now ignores anything RiscOS tells it and makes up its own mind.
- Shows a dashed line when dragging the edge of a column in a table
- Fixes fault in deleting columns inside tables; deleting the last column caused a crash
- Fixes fault in importing old TMWeb tables (hangs on loading table)
- Fixes fault in deleting table row; caret position wasn't properly updated; could result in subsequent crashes if caret not manually repositioned
- Further fix to positioning of caret after a cut, similar comments to above
- Fixes fault in positioning of caret; if a paragraph was of images only, the text caret could be mispositioned logically, again with unpredictable effects if the caret was not positioned manually.
- Fixes fault in cut-and-paste of a block of cells; the last row of the block was not cleared after a cut.
- Fixes fault in loading of plain text files. Non-Return or linefeed characters are now eliminated. (Caused problems with future editing and redraw).
- Fixes fault in use of links to local anchors in a separate page; used to end up adding the local reference as if it was part of the file address, giving for example example.html#local.htm. Reported by B Debenham and S Warden.
- Fixes fault in using the copy key to delete; it could end up deleting backwards; also had unpredictable
Version: 1.10c
Date: 10th November 1997
- Adds drag-selection of files in the filer display
- Fixes minor problem in publishing; "Illegal Paragraph Handle" message used to appear; now fixed. This should have had no malign side-effects.
- Fixes a minor bug in drag-and-drop editing; moving a selection to before its current position
Version: 1.10b
Date: 5th November 1997
- New feature; supports the
title option for anchor tags (used to describe the content of link destinations).
- New feature; permits publishing of deep sprites as GIFs instead of JPEGs (user set option)
- New feature; further additions to keyboard shortcuts.
- New feature; will now scroll the window for dragging etc.
- Improves frame handling (a couple of redraws were not done when required).
- Fixes bug in undo; undo after the pasting of a paragraph fragment resulted in a hang.
- Fixes bug in disposing of old links; some disused links and local anchor tags could survive intact when a file was saved, meaning that checks for file usage were incorrect and named tags could be chosen which no longer appeared in the document.
- Fixes bug in deleting directories; the program could hang.
- Improves detection of "dingbat"-style fonts. Now looks for both
Selwyn or Dingbats. This could have been resulting in some crashes, but this is very, very, very unlikely. Usual effect would have been a rather boring "XStyGet3" message which meant little to anyone.
- Fixes bug in cut-and-paste; any local anchor tags in a block being pasted usually resulted in a
Fatal error (type = 5) message.
- Fixes bug in cut-and-paste; text from paragraphs could go missing, or could result in
Fatal error (type = 5) message, or a freeze.
- Fixes bug in cut-and-paste; images could lose their links if an image is linked from.
- Fixes another (!) bug in cut-and-paste; cutting involving whole tables could result in crashes.
