Overview

DiagramIt is an application for creating structured diagrams of all sorts - from flowcharts to spider diagrams, organisational charts to annotations.

DiagramIt can save you a lot of time when making a chart, because it links symbols together automatically when they are moved and/or resized.

DiagramIt Designer is the natural companion to TableMate Designer, and builds on DiagramIt's successful mix of features by extending both diagramming and presentation controls.

Planned Features

Connections

• New types; curved and pictorial connections
• Start/end gaps; keep the start and/or end of a connector away from their shapes
• New arrowheads; more flexible, and customisable arrowheads
• Labelling; attach labels/arrows to the middle of connections

Shapes & Symbols

• New shape types; with new types of connection point allowing DiagramIt to create even more types of diagrams
• Text controls; vary the appearance of text inside a symbol
• Cut-and-paste; edit text content as well as whole symbols

Layered diagrams

• Multi-layered diagrams; add grouping boxes behind several symbols, or put labels on top of them.

Interface

• Toolbar; get to the most frequently used features rightaway!
• Ruler display; neat and precise feedback on your exact positioning

A lot more work has been completed on some major changes to align the DiagramIt code with TableMate in order to improve long-term reliability.

We've now decided to release DiagramIt Designer in two phases; the first to be released spring 2001, incorporating a large number of the features outlined above, and the second to appear in the autumn including a significant and liberating change to the manner in which lines are constructed.
